Meet our candidates: Andrew Metcalfe, Chopwell and Rowlands Gill

“My name is Andrew Metcalfe and I’m standing for the Workers Party of Britain. I was born and raised in Chopwell and have lived there most of my life.

I was a member of the Labour Party, but left due to the shameful actions of the national leadership and multiple attempts to undermine the democratic result of the 2016 referendum.

I’m standing to offer an alternative to the main parties, all of whom represent the interests of big business & petty identity politics and not the interests of the working class.

I have a great deal of admiration for Dave Bradford, the Labour candidate, I’m standing not in opposition to Dave or to the many good Labour members who do care about this area and it’s people, but against the party machine, which treats it’s own members, as well as voters, so disgracefully.

Whether you voted leave or remain in 2016, voted Labour, Conservative or another party in 2019, if like me you’ve been frustrated with all the mainstream parties, if you want to send a message to Labour and the Tories that working class votes cannot be taken for granted and that we need real, fundamental change locally and nationally, then vote for the Workers Party of Britain on May 6th.”
