Online meeting with Q&A: The economics of capitalism: who are the working class?
11 August @ 8:00 pm-9:30 pm
This week: The economics of capitalism: who are the working class?
Where did the modern working class come from? What makes someone a ‘worker’? Why is it that some people work for a living and others don’t? Are you ‘middle class’ if you own a house, go to university, or take home a decent wage packet? What about the unemployed, the sick, disabled and elderly? Are they workers?
What’s different about the workers of modern capitalist society from the peasants and serfs of old? Why do some people refer to working as ‘wage slavery’?
Dr Ranjeet Brar, aka the Moats Medic, will address the meeting, giving an introduction to the basic economics of the capitalist system, and members of the Workers Party will be able to log in and make contributions or ask questions via zoom during the following Q&A.
