The Workers Party of Britain denounces Goldstar Transport for using the current health emergency as a pretext for closing down its depot at Woolpit, Suffolk, and attacking the terms and conditions of its drivers.
Goldstar wants to sack 12 of its 107 drivers, keep ten on site and “offer” transfers of the remaining 85 to its HQ in Felixstowe, 33 miles away and on worse contracts.
Goldstar’s timing is interesting, coming hot on the heels of demands from the drivers for union recognition and an end to unsafe working practices, including the very dodgy habit of suspending crane heavy loads over lorries whilst drivers are still sitting in the cab.
The Workers Party of Britain supports the call from Unite to take strike action to stop this union-busting outfit in its tracks.
